At Sleepy’s we pride ourselves in customer service, product knowledge and most of all fitting you to the right mattress. That’s why we have developed a Bed Fit Specialist program that each of our mattress experts undertakes, to ensure you’re sleeping healthy!
About Our Bed Fit Specialists
Our Bed Fit Specialists undertake a training program designed by a Certified chiropractor for education in spinal function, how to assess your posture and how this translates into mattress fittings and overall sleep health. This course includes topics about the importance of posture, back care, and comprehensive analysis about the way the spine adapts to posture, movement, and everyday stresses.
The Bed Fitting Process
To understand the importance of a mattress fitting, you need to understand the process of a Sleepy’s mattress fitting. Firstly, our Bed Fit Specialists with your permission will ask you a few questions about your lifestyle, any aches and pains, and your daily habits. This will help paint a picture of your spinal movements throughout the day. Once we have this picture, we understand how much recovery is needed during sleep and how you need to sleep. When you are trying a mattress our bed fit specialists identify the direction of your spine, the symmetry of the hips, and how your neck and shoulders sit.
Based on this initial analysis and your body type/shape we assess the zone and feel of the mattress that best supports your body. For example, if you have a petite frame and an hourglass body type, a 5 zoned Plush feel mattress could be recommended to you. For this body shape, the hips and shoulders need to sink into the mattress whilst the mattress supports the waistline. *This is an example of how we can assess your needs, however, this example does not bring to light any life circumstances or lifestyle needs.
The Importance of Bed Fittings
Sleepy’s Bed Fit Specialists will observe your spinal alignment whilst you are trying a mattress. We want you to feel as if you’re floating on clouds, with even weight distribution across the mattress to keep the spine in its natural curvature and in a fully relaxed position.
If the mattress is too soft, your back will have inadequate support in the lower back which can cause pain and stiffness. Alternatively, if the mattress is too firm it can create uneven support and you will be uncomfortable in high-pressure areas which are reasons for tossing and turning during the night.
By having a Bed Fit Specialist talk you through the process and take into account your lifestyle and individual circumstances, we can help you find a mattress that suits your body and your needs. A mattress purchase is an investment in your health, and we want you to be confident in your purchase.
To support the work of our Bed Fit Specialists, Sleepy’s have an exclusive collection of mattresses that have been tested and endorsed by the Australian Chiropractors Association (ACA) that are designed to help alleviate pressure points across the body. You can check this out here.
