Meet Guy – Sleepy’s National Franchise Manager

October 28th, 2022

Guy Elliott our National Franchise Manager had a chat with Franchise Buyer at the recent Sydney Franchising & Business Opportunities Expo in August 2022.

We have highlighted some of our favourite tips from the Franchise Manager himself.

Are you passionate?

There are no real qualifications required to become a great franchisee. “We look for somebody who is passionate about success.” Sales experience is certainly advantageous in our business, however there is also ongoing training and support from our Head Office team.

The Right Fit

To find the right fit for a franchise business you want to be enthusiastic about what you do, to like the product and enjoy selling it. “Often people say to us, I had no idea that I would ever be selling mattresses.” When the focus is turned to the connections made with customers and the impact of a good night’s sleep has on their lives; that’s where the power of selling mattresses lies.

Mattress Misconceptions

Being a mattress retailer is not necessarily a “sexy business.” Sleepy’s focus on Sleep health at the core of our business. Our goal is to share the amazing power of sleep with as many people as possible. We have a collection of mattresses called the ‘Chiro Collection,’ that has been tested and endorsed by the Australian Chiropractors Association (ACA), to promote postural alignment, relaxation of the muscles and spinal support. Sleepy’s is a registered NDIS provider to help our community sleep healthy every night. We want all our customers to wake up feeling rested, rejuvenated, and amazing!

It Takes Work

Just because you are part of a Franchise, doesn’t mean less work is involved. It takes a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get any business off the ground. “Any independent ownership of business, in my opinion, takes a lot of work, a lot of thought process and a lot of emotional energy.”

Common Understanding

Understand the business you’re joining, the product you’re selling and aim for success. ”Be really prepared to be able to sell that product as well. The understanding of what you’re getting yourself into is most important.” Being part of a large format business, it’s important to know your customers. By assessing the customers’ needs and having a solid product knowledge you can offer a unique sleep solution to help change our customers’ lives.
